What Is DigiLocker?
DigiLocker is a Government of India initiative under the Digital India programme that provides citizens with a secure, cloud-based platform to store, access, and share official documents digitally. Documents stored in DigiLocker are legally equivalent to their physical counterparts, as per the Information Technology Act, 2000.
It is available as a web portal and as a mobile app for Android and iOS.

- Secure: Linked to your Aadhaar and secured with OTP-based login
- Paperless: Reduce dependence on physical document storage
- Free to use: No subscription fees for citizens

- Hosted on Indian government cloud infrastructure (MeghRaj)
Printing from DigiLocker
If you need a physical copy of a document stored in DigiLocker, simply open the document, click the download icon to save the PDF, then print it from your device. Documents downloaded from DigiLocker's issued section carry the same legal validity as the original.
Getting Started Is Worth It
DigiLocker is one of the most practical tools for Indian citizens managing multiple identity and qualification documents. Setting it up takes under five minutes and can save considerable time and hassle in everything from job applications to government service access.
